Marriage Legend Told From Pleasant Gap Family Memoir
On December 12 18558 Frank M Steele married Miss Rebecca Myers at the bride’s parents home near Pleasant Gap. The ceremony was conducted by Rev Horn of Johnstown but delays caused by winter floods pushed the time to eight. The 50th anniversary was celebrated last Saturday in Butler with a large family reunion and a wedding dinner supervised by the bride. Aides presented fifty dollars in gold. Numerous Steele relatives and friends attended. A charivari ended the evening and Judge Steele recalled their meeting when as a young carpenter he saw Rebecca in an apple tree and wooed her.
