Rain finishes early corn, court house praised by farmer families, and an ice cream auction fundraiser netting 18 for the Sunday School. Town features include visits from Crockett Graham, relocations to Johnson County, wheat and corn optimism, trips to the Rich Hill fair, and local schooling plans with Mrs. Bettie Crowder hired for Prairie Race winter term.

Zimmers made a business trip to Butler. Mrs Maud Alexander of Montrose spent last week visiting relatives near Johnstown. Delbert Shelton visited cousins south of Johnstown Friday night. Merera Herberte of Johnstown hauling telephone poles for line from Spruce to Butler. Some from the section altered the fale at Rich Hill and enjoyed a jolly time with Sam Foster. Henry Zimmer of Butler dined with friends Saturday evening. Spruce merchants report constant rushing business. Several teachers left Monday for Rich Hill to attend the Institute. A crowd from this community and Johnstown attended the picnic at Germantown Sunday. Dr J W Choate of Butler came to his farm on business last Thursday. Miss Offa Allison spent last week visiting Spruce friends. Sunday School meeting Saturday at Hope Wall with programs carried out. W H Shelton to begin sorghum at end of week. He asked to remember him. Prices reasonable. Robert Ham wiring ace home and thot old Fanehiar to he a wee z evening.
Secretary Ellis reports Missouri wheat crops will average twenty bushels per acre with some fields reaching forty to fifty bushels. Acreage exceeds prior years with about 4,180,000 planted. Projected wheat production tops 63,000,000 bushels, while corn is seen at about 305,000,000 bushels from 7,645,600 acres. Prices expected lower due to abundance.
The farm price that year on Dec L was 20 cents. The crop was worth $50,000,000 at present. The lowest average yield of corn in Missouri history was last year with 29 bushels per acre. Prices reached 62 cents at the farm. If corn sold at 20 cents a bushel, value would exceed $60,000,000. Secretary Ellis would not comment.
Senator P M Cockrell arrives from Detroit where he attended Senator McMillan's funeral. He is tired but in good health and plans to rent until September before resuming campaign work. He expresses satisfaction with Missouri conditions.

A seven year old boy, Edward Feraneis, son of Davol Hoopengarier, was fatally mauled by a guard bulldog. The incident occurred in Vincennes as the dog attacked while the boy played near his father who had recently bought the dog for protection. Authorities expect the boy to die from his wounds.
