Snakes Proliferate in Town with Close Brush Incident

Buger, Smith & Co. and Lienstod ran the Burra market noting 19 000 young sheep in a 23 000 head yard. Buyers praised ease of pen exits and 4 hour sale of 136 lines with 10 800 sheep on run at midnight. Ext O Melrose sold 33 1 2 shillings for Willogoleche lambs, price leaders cited. Attendance large from interstate and district towns, high demand for young sheep. yarding could be a state record for a country sale.

C W A Prepares For Hospital Fete

The OWA held its monthly meeting on 20 November presided by Mrs Tennant. Members pledged £30 to the Soldiers War Memorial Committee for kitchen and catering facilities and were urged to bring costume items and eyes for the hospital. Final arrangements for the hospital fete on 4 December were made and gifts should be left at Rest Rooms by 23 December.

A 65 year old farmer and postal worker Otto Adolph Tschim died at Burra Hospital after a double shooting at his Brady Creek home on Tuesday. His wife Mary Pauline Tschirn age 63 was wounded and admitted to Fun Gund Hospital in satisfactory condition after surgery. An inquest will be held before Coroner J A S Fisher.
