The Wo mens Christian Temperance Union held its monthly meeting at Memorial Hall Red ruth on November Sth. President Mrs H H Thomas presided and members were asked to send invites by November 14 for a Bowden mission. The group accepted Mr R Howeys offer of a moving pictures show at Memorial Hall on November 17 with items organized by Mrs F J Bernes. A reading urged total abstinence as a safeguard for young lives and endurance in contests requiring physical effort.
The Burra Rifle Club reports a windy 800 and 900 yard match with H A Byles leading at 82 and a strong field showing low misses. Results list Woodman Bass Biggs Nutt Oates Aughey and others with scores, trophy points, and championship aggregates. next Saturday the Light Horse Troop faces club members at 200 and 300 yards.
An Australian Mutual Provident Society notice discusses life income protection for surviving spouses. It cites costs for a 90 year old and references premiums of £1,000, with contact lines for Adelaide and Clare offices and district managers W. A. Read and Bartlett in the industrial department.
Farrells Flat A drops to third place after Saturday play in Cavandale. Torreston climbs while Porters Lagoon A remains the pace setter as results include doubles and singles matches across Farrells Flat, Torreston, Porters Lagoon, Manoora and Wirrilla Hanson B. The premiership table shows Porters Lagoon leading with 64 points from Torreston 62 and Farrells Flat 60.

A successful strawberry fete hosted by the Ladies Committee at the Institute raised money for the local Cricket Club. Attendees enjoyed strawberries and cream, ice cream, and drinks, with Schwerdt's Jazz Band providing music. Prizes were awarded in dancing and wheat contest events, with decorations in green and gold and a busy dart stall.
R W Bruce announces Adelaide to Burra carrying business with a Brockway track. Two trips weekly on Mondays and Thursdays, small consignments welcome, depots in Adelaide. DELIVERY to 70 consignees, trial solicited.
Spalding won the toss and bowled first, Leighton scoring 87 to 66. Leighton’s youthful side added 36 before Spalding surpassed the total with one wicket down as McWaters took 4/4 and Coulter 4/18.

Reports on repairs to Burra road and pipes, quarry fence with Canowie Park Lands certificate request, tenders accepted for several contracts, road works near town, and pipe repairs on Andrews road. Petitions for East Park Lands through traffic referred to Park Lands Committee. Sympathy tendered to Dr Warner on his father's death. Payments totals noted.
Burra Burra District Council met on a Friday in November with members including N H Pearse as chair and Crs Warnes Kellock Hawkes and McWaters. They approved the year ending June 30 1931 income and expenditure estimate and fixed the general rate at one shilling in the pound.
Overseer reports damage on the road near H Kellock and orders repair. Gr Hawkes to take charge with the overseer, cost not to exceed £2. No 2 bridge on Endenda road referred to Commissioner of Highways at £25. Woodcutters Gap south route repairs ordered. District accounts £31 19s and Government grant £2 5s 3d approved.
The Mid North Leighton Croquet Club met on Saturday November 1 with strong attendance. Mrs L J Warnes presided as president while the financials were satisfactory and the report showed steady progress and member enthusiasm. Officers elected for the coming season include President Mrs I J Warnes and Vice president Mrs A D B McDonald along with Hon Secretary Mr A T McWaters Treasurer Mrs S Pearce Captain Mrs E Jettner and Vice Captain Mrs M Hogan.
