A Burra Seasida Picnic Association committee meeting on November 1953 resolved to wind up the association. A final distribution of funds will be made to connected school and planter committees serving the towns under the association. The timing of the distribution was to be announced later.

Melbourne Cup Party Hosts Bridge and Celebrations

A Melbourne Cup Day event held at Hesthmount brought together over 50 ladies from the Burra Red Crows group. Mrs Sandland arranged reception rooms and A. Cummins won the bridge competition with Mrs Scottwick earning the consolation prize, donated to the sweet stall and Christmas tree fund.

The Willalo Methodist Ladies Guild held their annual fete in Willglo Hall on October 30. The event featured performances by local artists Mr B Olsen and Rev R Lovell Lou called, with jokes and music, a supper served to guests, and stalls fully patronised. The total proceeds netted £60 470.
