Parliament Question on Petrol Tax for Road Works
In reply Mr Chifley explains a new allocation method for petrol tax receipts to aid road construction. An extra 1 million pounds annually was added to assist sparsely populated districts, bringing total Commonwealth road funds to about 3.7 million pounds yearly plus state motor taxes. The scheme aims to supply the largest sums ever for local road making.
