The Burra Mt Bryan Telegraph reports that the additional-telephone trunk line between Burra and Mt. Bryan will go into service on 25 May 2853 after final equipment tests. The third direct circuit will enable prompt and reliable service for rising trunk line traffic between the centers.

A working bee organized by the Burra Progress Association mobilized fifteen townsmen to clear high grass and debris from the cemetery paths. Water reached three feet in Morrison’s shack near the water. A boat associated with a shack was lost amid mangroves and not heard of since. Gask’s boat rode out the flood. other owners faced substantial property risk as cars bogged on the lower road called The Bay.
