Deputation to Highways on Adelaide Road Connection

The Burra Burra District Council plans a deputation to the Minister of the H and LG Dept led by Mr M McIntosh to press for upgrades. Mt. Bryan residents face long delays crossing the railway line to reach the eastern township. Roadside metal theft reports total yardage over two years

The Clerk of the DC of Burra Burra reports that metal and rubble stolen from roadsides over the past two years exceeded 20 000 yards annually. In eastern roads work metal is removed from verges or the roadside as repairs use it. A clear instance is the Boshorowie Par nell Fiat road where about 9000 yards were taken and used for repairs.

Demand for S A Stud Sheep in Sydney Slower This Year

Demand for South Australian stud sheep in Sydney fell short of prior years as buyers showed hesitancy for superior lines. East Buncarée Ltd sold rams to 220 guineas averaging 182. Bungarée rams to 300 guineas averaging 340 across three. North Bungaree Shag sold to 170 guineas averaging 120 for three. The Collinsville Stud moved four rams at 314 guineas average. Murray Thomas two rams averaged 40. World record auction price of 4200 guineas set by Eatate late F E Body for Bundemar Tam. Top ram purchased by Tom Williams of Oakbank, Dubbo from Margery’s sale. Bidding lively but selective pool rams and earlier type stud rams 25–30% cheaper than last year.

Council opts for crawler front end loader after trial

The Counef plant matter was debated after a rubber tire loader was tested at quarry sites. Adelaide inspections in May 1952 supported acceptance of an order placed last year, but delivery delays persisted. A crawler front end loader and dozer were ordered despite late delivery expectations, with delivery not anticipated until end of September.

District Roads Progress Report From Burra Burra Council

The District Council of Burra Burra held a meeting on Monday June 2 1952 at the District Office. The Quebeers Report was adopted and noted work on Main Road 45 between Rosewall and the northern boundary. Inspections on May 22 1952 highlighted attention to Male Adelaide Road the Mt. Bryan to ownership stretch was completed but potholes appeared. In Booborowle Ward Fi Hogan and his assistant faced delays due to holidays. In Kooringa Ward Baldine Crees to Burra road grading and Pine Creek scooping were done while Manin Clare Read Prous Hanson were graded. Plant units delayed by repairs especially the Front End Loader. excessive wet weather left roads waterlogged hindering traffic statewide.
