Additional Trunk Lines Between Adelaide and Burra
The Postmaster General notified MP A. R Downer that two new carrier wave trunk lines between Adelaide and Burra will be available on 7 June 1954. The lines form the sixth and seventh circuits, enabling multiple simultaneous calls on one wire pair with clear speech and reduced maintenance versus new wires. Carrier equipment supports up to seventeen circuits per pair, uses two way wired wireless tech, and extends reach with intermediate stations up to 150 miles apart on aerial routes.
