The Burra Town Council decided to accept the Town Clerk E R Davey price for re assessing the area. The clerk will value every property and notify owners of values, with a possible time frame of months.
A chaotic OCR fragment shows a printed notice claiming publication by Prank on Commercial Street Barra every Tuesday afternoon. The text mentions Tears Marstqn and The Barra Record Office, but details are unclear and origin uncertain.
At a ratepayers meeting Burra Council was told the Under Treasurer refused the £1200 loan for an oval at Victoria Park. Only £400 remains available under the scheme, while Council may borrow £3200 from the Savings Bank at 3 1/8 per cent or use £400 in bonds. The council will support committee spending and may avoid another ratepayers vote.
A public meeting in Hallett last August aimed to add the names of World War II enlistments to the town roll. A strong turnout supported the effort as W Miller chaired and Frank MacDonald Ben served as secretary. The committee, linked with sporting and public bodies, reported progress last Tuesday July 20, with plaques nearly ready for the Soldier’s Garden monument and plans for memorial gates at the park entrance. Demobilised Soldiers Association held a smoke social on Saturday at the Air Force Association Club Rooms, inviting officers and members of RSL, Air Force and Fathers' associations. The event featured civic toasts, tributes to hospitality, and musical entertainment with a supper provided by club members.
Early daylight arrests were made by Mounted-Constables France and Welch in Hogback Lane about 30 miles east of Bury while suspects slept. Edward Carpenter and Raymond Edward Robinson faced larceny charges before Mr W H Gare, remanded on bail until July 30 1948. The cash bag and roughly £20 were recovered from the Truck Driver’s loss.
Burra's oldest resident Miss Annie Ford died at her Chapel Street home on Sunday July 1 aged 89. Born April 6 in Basin Farm Burra she lived a long active life supporting charities and destitute children. Her funeral at Burra Cemetery Monday July 12 was led by Rev. Dorman with local pallbearers and funeral directors C. J. Pearce & Son.
Burra Institute announces additions to its library for June 1946 featuring a diverse range of titles. Notable entries include works by Crofts Innes Jacobs Maclean and Macleod along with novels by Hilton and Seifert, among others.
Mr J Harris of J J Jennison's Tyre Service Station Commercial Street Burra suffered severe facial burns Thursday when a rag soaked in kerosene ignited inside a boiler after the door was opened during a drying prep. The explosion caused burns to his face. he is in Burra Hospital recovering.

South Booborowie beats Hallett 18 to 2 at Leighton with Farrelly and Colling as standout players. North Booborowie loses to Burra 23 to 4 in Burra and South Booborowie defeats North Booborowie 25 to 15 at Booborowie.
