Farrell's Flat Harvest Pushes Ahead Amid Mixed Yields
Harvesting across Farrell's Flat is well advanced with a late start due to October and November frosts. Some paddocks yielded ten bags while nearby fields produced little more than five. About 20 000 bags are stacked in railway sheds as bulk weighing and elevators boost handling capacity. A New Year’s Eve birthday party for a schoolroom marks the social side amid busy farm life.

Burra hospital Christmas open air concert inspires town support
An open air Christmas programme on the grounds of Burra Hospital drew a large crowd, with the Institute Choral and Orchestra, Burra Brass Band, and local singers performing hymns and carols. Donations of blankets were presented, officials praised staff, and the mayor urged local support for the hospital and maternity wing in the new year.
Local event concludes with thanks and songs
The work was made easier by the cooperation given by the nurses to remedics stall and he would be very sorry should the day come when it would have to be shortened. The doctor concluded by again expressing thanks for the pleasant evening. Three cheers led by the Chairman were then given for the performers and ones for Mr. Dune. Supper provided by a number of residents was then handed around, the band rendering some fine selections in the meanwhile.
