Horses Stung By Bees On North Auckland Farm
On a North Auckland farm over the weekend two draught horses were trapped in their harness and stung by a swarm of bees. Farmer Robert Harding and his 16 year old son attempted to free them but each horse received about 1500 to 1900 stings before the bees were driven off with smoke. The animals could not drink and developed swollen tongues, were fed ice blocks, and remained in a critical condition.
