Burra Public School Yearly Report and Fundraises

The annual report will be presented on Break Up Day December 17th detailing Grade II to VI results with names such as Barbara Bier Moreton Joan Nelson Sue Martin and others, plus the arms work adjudged and funds raised. The Waste Products drive tallies four hundred twelve packages from the Primary School and sixty four from the High School, with War Savings rising to 257. Hallett Guides Held Pet Show

The Hallett Girl Guides held a Pet Show at Guide Hall on November 28 under ideal weather. From 2:30 p.m. many children arrived. senior Guide Joan Weber drilled them. The hall hosted competitions for best arranged bowl of flowers and best dressed doll. Judges donated prizes including War Savings Stamps. trading table was run by Ivy Weber and Sylvia Watkins. Prizes covered birds, fowls, lambs, pups, cats, kangaroos, and other entries with winners named such as Birds Roger Nutt and Heather Phin in various classes.

Mrs. Hi j Dunn presided. correspondence was read. the branch balance sheet showed £103. £100 to General funds was approved. Contributions from Lt. Ian Hawkes and Pte. A. Mickel. annual show planned for March with Dunion Red Cross. Jumble Stall raised £1 3s 0d. Afternoon Tea 15s 0d. Knitting winner Miss Cowan. Goods to Red Cross House and to No. 2 Store.
