News From Abroad Reveals War News and Family Updates

Mt Bryan East Church Anniversary Services Highlight Week

Anniversary services at Mt Bryan East Church were held on Sunday November 22. The afternoon service was led by Mr P Tubroak and Rev Rex Brook led the evening circuit service. Bryan Churen Choir sang two anthems to appreciative audiences. Special thanks were given for attendance during petrol shortages. Rev Brooks spoke on religious teaching in the home as essential in these times.

Coroner's Court inquiry into Henry Brown property fire

In Burra an inquest held on 15 November 1942 examined Henry Herbert Brown of Gum Greek property. The coroner found that the shed and contents on Section 132 Hundred of Hanson were destroyed by fire on 16 November 1942 but there was no evidence showing the fire's origin. Mr M W Bednall represented the Brown family. Constable Bonython advised the coroner.

Final Red Cross Junior Competition at Bouborowie

Final Red Cross Junior Competition at Bouborowie held on Saturday night November 1 featured a dance and supper. Voting closed at 10 10 pm with Sylvia Goodridge Leone Price and Robert Tauil as candidates. Results: Sylvia Goodridge 15085, Leone Price 13475, Robert Tauil 10080. The winner received a certificate from the Red Cross with babies receiving tokens. Music by Lindsey Jettner's Dance Band and thanks extended to parents and supporters.

Country Women celebrate birthday with tea and dance

The Country Women's Association welcomed members and visitors for a third birthday celebration after singing the national anthem. Mrs Ken Wade gave the birthday cake while a ballet tea was provided by Mrs W P and Ken Wade. Spencer Merchant organized the dance, raising funds toward Cheer On Hut.

New Library Purchases October Add Fresh Reads
