Wakefield Federal Division candidates clash over beaches
Sponsors urged action on weekend beach access at Wakefield though Sir Philip McBride offered only minor concessions. A sponsor will oppose him at the May 29 federal election. Labor backs A Barradine of Gawler. Independent Hector Henstridge runs, the only returned soldier among Wakefield candidates. Henstridge served in New Guinea, earned a high UB decoration, and has been in Balaklava since 1927 apart from seven years in the army.
