Farm dollars now buy more in building material while the building material dollar buys less in farm products. A 1914 concrete silo could be built with 746 bushels of corn or 22 hogs. today it requires 485 bushels or 15 hogs. Farmers earn 28 percent more from the same acreage, making building a home or barn cheaper in wealth terms for the farmer. If you plan to build this season, consider these facts.

Record Hog Sale Sets Indianapolis Market Benchmark
A new record in hog values was set in the Indianapolis market when 32 head sold for an average of 101.84 per head net. The hogs, averaging 532 pounds, were the largest ever in Indianapolis yards.
