Burnettsville suffered a destructive fire early Monday morning that burned the old hotel on North Main Street to ashes. Owner James Gardner and occupant Wm McKinney faced total losses including merchandise and household items. insurance partially covered McKinney’s stock and belongings. The 1858 building, once slated for relocation and habitation, burned within an hour as firefighters battled flames and embers.
