Killed by Train Near Delphi
Adam Grandstaff of West Delphi was run down by a southbound Monon train near Delphi around noon Friday. The 65 year old, deaf man returning from a hunting trip was likely unaware of the approaching locomotive as the train ran late. The body and gun were badly crushed and the train conductor John O Mara halted the train to recover the remains in Delphi. Grandstaff was known in Burnettsville and area, having worked on local building projects.

Evelin Meek Dies in Burnettsvilleat Christmas Morning
Mrs Evelin Meek a Burnettsville resident born in Troy County in 1846 died Christmas morning at her home. She married Reg Meek in 1871, who died in 1906. A Baptist Church member, her funeral was held at the church Wednesday conducted by Rev Walton and burial followed in Davis cemetery.

Death Calls D M Guy of Cass County
D M Guy aged about 67 died at his home four miles northeast of Burnettsville after a period of intense suffering. A lifelong Cass County resident, he built a large threshing business, was active in the Democratic party, married in 1878 to Miss Buchanan, and left six children with his widow and many relatives. Funeral services were held Friday at Pisgah church with Rev Teeter officiating, burial in the adjoining cemetery.
