Delphi Man Roach Named Indiana Secretary of State
William A. Roach of Delhi was appointed Secretary of State of Indiana by Governor Goodrich to replace Ed Jackson of Indianapolis. Jackson has been commissioned as a Captain in the National Army and assumed the duties Saturday. Roach’s salary is 7500 dollars annually, term to January 1, 1919, with assistants retained. Roach has been active in Ninth District Republican politics and is expected to run for secretary of state on the Republican ticket in the next election.

Cass County Men Given Suspended Sentence
Attorney George W. Walters returned from Iowa Friday night where he appeared as counsel for Nick Welch and Louis Wolfe of Cass County who were tried for the theft of an automobile at Ellsworth Iowa. The boys drew suspended sentences. It will be remembered that two local youths in company with Scott Ellsworth were apprehended here after the theft.

Farmers Win Fight to Secure County Agent

Morticesis Physician Dr Grant Goodwin Dies in Monticello
Dr Grant Goodwin a leading Monticello physician died suddenly last Friday at his home after returning from Ft Harrison where he served in the medical reserve corps. Born December 24, 1876 in Curtisville Indiana he had lived in Monticello since 1905 and married in 1906 to Eva Seidel. He leaves two sons. His body was taken to Curtisville for burial.
