Rev. Levering a Baptist church missionary in India for twenty five years was overcome by gas from an instantaneous heater in his apartment in Lafayette last Friday afternoon. He called his sister for help and she forced the door after arriving to find him unconscious. He was taken to hospital and is now out of danger.

Former Monticello resident Jonathan Shafer died Friday morning at his daughter Mrs. George Lucy’s home in Logansport. He was 81. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Dunkard church in Idaville with burial in Idaville cemetery.
