Rural carriers tally mail on routes 22 and 23 with delivered and collected pieces and weights. Route 22 delivered 13386 pieces weighing 1846 lbs and collected 1554 pieces weighing 86 lbs. Route 23 delivered 12053 pieces weighing 1835 lbs and collected 1471 pieces weighing 79 lbs. Total postage for routes 22 and 23 amounts to 116.55 and 93.23. Money orders issued show October 1903 305.90, October 1912 739.55, October 1913 2.174.36.
James A. West Republican was declared elected city judge by Judge Joseph Wason in Cass County Court over Democrat Peter D. Smith after a recount. The tally shows West by nineteen votes, making him the sole Republican in the new administration. the Progressives finished second. West, known as the divorce lawyer, has long led local divorce filings and has carried the American flag in processions.

Elias Elliott hosted dinner for Mrs. Young and Mrs. Price. Arthur Bures and family dined with the Shields.
George Stranton a 30 year old farmer near Rockfield was found dead in a barn fire that destroyed his building at noon Monday. Neighbors recovered the hogs and stock, with the charred body identified by remains of a pen and accident theory suggesting he re entered the barn after feeding logs, causing the blaze.
Thousands of automobile owners across Indiana join the Red Cross campaign against the white plague by displaying bright 20 inch square cards on their cars. The holly wreath design spreads from Indianapolis to towns and farms. cards are distributed free by Red Cross agents in county seats and other towns.

About fifty friends and neighbors gathered at Mrs. George Osman’s home to celebrate her forty third birthday. The evening featured games music and refreshments including sandwiches pickles salad and fried chicken. Guests departed late wishing her many more happy birthdays.
The Woman’s Foreign Missionary Society of the M. E. church entertained fellow church ladies at Mrs. G. C. Buchanan’s home last Thursday afternoon with music contests and readings followed by refreshments.
Lane store advertises a limited four day Christmas sale featuring roasters, kettles, coffee pots, tea pots, baking dishes, and home goods. Also lists toys, gas lamps, vacuum cleaners, carpet sweepers, and razors with prices ranging from small cents to several dollars.
Shoppers and visitors fill Logansport as Mrs George Stuart and Mrs Wiley shoped Tuesday. Marie Williams visits relatives while J M Martin and W E Stuart make brief trips. Several pupils contract chicken pox. Purdue Short Course at Burnettsville announced for February 12 13 and 14.
