After six days and thirty to thirty five witnesses, Burnet County Grand Jury reports to Judge Jack B. Miller that no bills of indictment were issued. The panel investigated County Attorney, County Judge, and Sheriff offices, emphasizing evidence over rumors and noting voters will decide outcomes.

Grand Jury Finds County Attorney Lacked Working Ties

The Grand Jury finds the County Attorney failed to maintain adequate relations with law enforcement and gave insufficient time to the office. It urges peace officers and the County Attorney’s office to cooperate, grow with county workload, and asks Commissioners to assist. Minor sheriff’s department issues noted. no criminal intent found. Weekend Storm Drowning at Lake Buchanan Claims Three Men

Three men from Houston died in a weekend Lake Buchanan boating accident during a violent thunderstorm between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Kenneth Irvin Tice, 70, and W. E. Fears, 64, drowned when their 16 foot fiberglass boat struck the dam. Kenneth John Tice Jr., 50, also perished after being washed over the dam’s first gate. Authorities recovered the bodies after about two hours of searching.

Marble Falls City Manager Seeks City Owned Utility

Marble Falls city manager Dick Zimmerman applied for a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity on Tuesday. He met with Pedernales Electric Cooperative and the Public Utility Commission to discuss forming a city owned utility. little progress was reported after the meeting.

Miller to End District Judge Term Nov 30

Texas 33rd Judicial District Judge Jack B. Miller of San Saba will retire when his successor is elected. D. W. Hammond of Burnet, the Democratic nominee, was unopposed in the May primary and Miller has urged the governor to appoint Hammond to complete the term. Miller plans to work full time on his ranch starting December as he shifts jobs.

Archaeologists Find Unique Blanco Site From 8 000 Years Ago

Texas Highway Department archaeologists uncover a campsite site two miles west of Blanco on West Walnut Creek dating 8 000 years ago between paleo Indian and archaic ages. They find grinding stones hearths pollen snail shells and animal teeth to reconstruct life and climate.

County commissioners approved the lowest bid of 2797.55 from D W Printing for office furniture including desks chairs file cabinets and a copy machine. John P Larsen was reappointed to the Burnet County Hospital Authority Board and Shepperd Cliniclease was approved for a county flu immunization site at Burnet High School precinct 3 vacancy to presiding judge Mildred Nored.
