Bertram city officials after three hours of testimony closed to the public returned to open session at 11 p.m. Monday night and gave a vote of confidence to the town marshal. The meeting followed a period of public concern and discussion over law enforcement leadership.
Marble Falls and Burnet residents planned the new school year with kindergarten registration at Burnet Elementary and Bertram Elementary on September 2 while high school grade levels met to review pre registration schedules. The first day of classes was set for Tuesday September 6 and bus service would run on schedule.
A loose bolt on a 12 yard dump truck’s front axle sent it into the side of a 1977 Monte Carlo on Highway 281 north of FM 1431. Driver Michael Isbell and Eva Myers were turning into driveways when the axle slipped. Myers’ car sustained over 1000 dollars in damage with no injuries.
Burnet City Council and fire department representatives plan a 7 30 p m special meeting at Brown Free Library to consider sites for a new fire hall. Auditors also conduct yearly scrutiny of city accounts as remodels continue.
