Arrested were Danny Morgan and Kevin mouser both of Burnet. Two of the juveniles Are students at Burnet High school. The saturday theft was reported by the owners of the store who gave the Llano lawmen a description of the car and its License plates. The owners reportedly recognized three of the suspects. Burnet Deputy sheriff Gene schillings made the arrest on a Llano county warrant at the request of the Llano sheriff s department. Llano Deputy Frank Overstreet declined to give any information concerning the arrests except to name the place and Date of the crime. Chamber elects new directors Burnet four new Dine tors who will begin their three year terms in january of 1978, have been elected by Burnet chamber of Commerce members they Are Markle Williams Richard Sanders or. Dan Bailey and Dwayne Teague election judges met monday to count the ballots and certify the election election judges were Roy Oakley chairman Robert Barber Bill Weaver Don Wallace and Charles Nyquist. Out of 215 ballots mailed out 126 were returned. Balloting was As follows Williams 79. Sanders 74 Bailey 65, and Teague 65. Other candidates and the votes they received were Douglas Moses 50, Marie Banks 61 David tipple 56 and Paul Shell 42. Bertram buys Ball Field firefighters still shopping trustees discuss school property Burnet a the discussion and action at the Burnet school Board meeting tuesday night at the High school entered on land buildings and school buses. Three tracts of land belonging to the school District came under consideration. First the trustees opened bids for the Bertram athletic Field seven acres of land More or less which the Bertram City Council has expressed interest in purchasing for their City. The school Board was legally obliged to take bids on the land before Selling it and the Only bid submitted was that of the City of Bertram. Underwood said that their inquiry about the land was to help the fire department establish contingency plans and that if the Board were to go ahead and give to to the fire department Quot we would t know what to do with Holder supported Underwood s presentation saying the firemen were Quot scouting for land and checking out possibilities for a site for the fire Hall which the City of Burnet has promised to help construct. Another site has been located near Wallace Ridden Park and according to Holder Quot it might be the Ideal the problems facing the fire department Are Many Holder said. Since the Library was built on the Square the firemen have less space to Park when they go to the fire Hall to take the trucks to a fire. Also the present fire Hall was built in 1943 when the department s trucks were Model As and Model to but the newer trucks take up More room. School Board president Gene Taylor took a Pool of trustees who All expressed sympathy with the fire department but chose to keep the land since it is part of the Long Range plan and is expected to be used in the future As the site for a kindergarten. Burnet sales tax rebate $ 10,133 Marble fals $ 6,949 Burnet the City of Burnet this month received a sales tax receipt Check for $10,133.47, compared to Marble Falls Check for $6,949.99. Statistics released by the state comptroller show that Burnet county cities Are thriving at a rate above the state average while Blanco county is doing business far below the average the statistics Are the monthly report of sales tax rebates made by the comptroller s office to Texas cities Marble Falls has so far this year received $106, 190 98 in rebates an increase of 46 percent Over last year s rebates. Burnet likewise has increased their rebates 21 percent Over last year. Bertram which received no Money for the september period has for the year As a whole increased its receipts 22 percent to $6,920.20 Granite Shoals also received no Money for the september period but shows a 27 percent increase for the year to Date Over last year during the same period Blanco and Johnson City both fell below the state average increase of 20 8 percent John son City decreased one percent and Blanco increased 17 percent. Rebates received by the Blanco county cities were $2,493.31 for Blanco and $1,241.30 for Johnson City in Williamson county Cedar Park shows no increase Over last year while round Rock increased their rebates a whopping 52 percent up for the september period from $1,732,15 last year to $7,170 10 Tor this year.
