Burnet Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash
A Burnet woman, Beverly Ann Haynes, died at the scene of a two vehicle crash on Texas Highway 29 near Skyline Terrace Road No. 2. James Kenneth Atkison of Burnet drove a pickup eastbound and passed Haynes as she began a left turn. Haynes' children Toye Lee 9 and Tonya 4 survived but Tonya sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Brackenridge Hospital after initial treatment at Sheppard Memorial. Glen Atkison, a passenger in the pickup, was also treated for minor injuries.

The 1st Cavalry Division from Ft Hood presents a Burnet Day of Appreciation on Saturday June 1 at the Burnet Rodeo Arena. Burnet High confirms 89 seniors for 1974 commencement
Commencement exercises for eighty nine Burnet High School seniors are set for 8 00 p m Monday May 27 at Bryce Taylor Auditorium. Speeches will be given by Salutatorian Gary Ozier and Valedictorian Laura Keith with awards presented by Principal Harry Heickman and Superintendent Robert Wilkin. Baccalaureate services were held May 19 with Rev Tom Keith delivering the sermon and Betty Maxwell singing The Way We Were.

Monument of Flowers schedule announced for Burnet
Burnet County officials announce the second annual Monument of Flowers on Memorial Day Monday May 27 at 12 00 high noon on the Burnet County Courthouse lawn. The event is sponsored by V F W Post 6974 and Ladies Auxiliary with Ramsey Clinton Master of Ceremonies and the Burnet High School Band performing. Donations may be sent to Memorial Day Observance and flowers may be donated or ordered for delivery to the monument site.

Glen Hopkins Injured in Accident
Glen Hopkins son of Mrs Lillie Fay Hopkins of Bertram was seriously injured in an accident Tuesday afternoon. He was taken by ambulance to Shepperd Memorial and then to Brackenridge in Austin for surgery on extensive leg injuries. His condition was not known at press time.

Highland Lakes Blood Drive Falls Short of Goal
Blood donations at the Highland Lakes event totaled about 50 pints, short of the 100 pint goal. Organizers cited Saturday activities for the shortfall and plan a return in September to raise the remaining 150 pints.
