William J. Powers known as Dubb lived at Mt Zion Cemetery under Clements Funeral Home direction. Born August 2 1908 in Burnet County he served in World War II and worked 30 years for LCRA. He was a resident of Austin since 1941 with family in the area.

John L Williams 77 of Burnet died June 24 1976 in Oaks Nursing Home. Funeral held June 26 in Burnet with Joe Jones officiating. Burial at Hoovers Valley Cemetery directed by Clements Funeral Home. Local Officers Undergo Training at North Fort Hood

Two Burnet men joined the 49th Armored Division during a two week annual training at North Fort Hood with about 11 500 citizen soldiers participating in the exercise.

Waite Honored At Granite Shoals Ice Cream Social

Granite Shoals Mayor Joe Waite was honored at an ice cream social held at the Granite Shoals Fire Station. The event was hosted by the Community Civic Club Sherwood Shores Women’s Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Granite Shoals Fire Department. Sgt John Friberg and Capt R A Underwood of Burnet serve in the 149th Adjutant General Company which supports the division. The 149th AG Company softball team won the 49th Armored Division championship. Captain Underwood received a trophy from Lt Col Earl Wilkes. The AG Company earned praise from Fort Hood Regular Army Evaluators for its training mission. Burnet area residents may contact Capt Underwood at 756-2719 to join the Texas Army National Guard.

Obituary: Hubert K Carson Dies at 82 in Burnet

Hubert King Carson 82 died Monday afternoon June 21 1976 in a local hospital. Services were held June 23 at First Baptist Church Burnet with Michael Cox and Carl Schlomach officiating. Interment followed in Burnet Cemetery. He was born October 20 1893 in Burnet County and was a deacon at First Baptist Church a past Burnet school board member and a Woodmen of the World member. He is survived by his wife Minnie and three daughters plus two sons, one sister and one brother. Pallbearers were listed.

Harrison Bucher 86 died in a local hospital June 23 1976. Services were held June 24 at Edgar Memorial Chapel Barnet with Bert Bronaugh officiating. Masonic graveside rites planned June 28 in Pinecrest Cemetery Mobile Alabama. He was born Feb 4 1890 in Logan County Arkansas and was a World War I veteran and retired railroad employee. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge of St. Louis and the Burnet Presbyterian Church. Wife Evelyn of Burnet and daughter Lena Berby of Arlington survive. Honorary pallbearers were Burnet Presbyterian Church officers. Memorials may be made to the Burnet church.

Kingsland Winter Resort Promotion Set For Tuesday

Kingsland Chamber plans a slide film and cassette presentation to promote Kingsland as a winter resort. The program, prepared by Bob Cowman with Chamber board approval, will be shown at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Chamber office. Terry Osbourn says costs will be covered by donations.
