Child suspected in Bank bomb threat by John Weaver Burnett a ten to twelve year Oki boy it suspected of making the bomb theat against first state Bank in Burnet on Friday june 17. The threat was originally received at radio station Kalb and then reported to the proper authorities. At approximately 1.07 . The suspect allegedly called a Netts Wood at Kalb and reported Quot there is a bomb at the Burnet Bank set to go off in three miss Wood reported the Call to her Boss Harry j. Kaindl who called the Burnet City police within three minutes of the time the Call was received. Chief of police Jess Madden and Burnet county sheriff s deputies . Hullum and Gene schillings then went to the Bank which is located just across the Street from the court House. The officers and Bank president Herman Braley searched the Bank As quietly Anc As quickly As possible without alerting the customers who were in the Bank at the time. During the search employees of Marathon meeting continues the Bank were alerted of the threat and told to keep As Calm As possible in order to prevent Panto among the customers. As soon As the officers and Braley had a Chance they locked the Bank a bomb was not located by 3 . Employees left the Bank Well after 4 30 . At which time the three hours were past and officials Felt the threat of a bomb was gone asked about his first impression when hearing of the threat Braley said Quot i first thought that it was Only a prank but we had to take All precautions for the 15 or so customers in the Bank and the employees i am extremely proud of the local police for their getting Here within minutes of the threat and the Way that they handled everything. For the same period last year the City of Burnet was beaten by Marble Falls by approximately $2,100. The 1977 payments to Date from Marble Falls total $58,388.83 while from Burnet the total is $50335.95 for a difference of $7,452.88. The 1976 payments to Date from Marble Falls total $42,873.09 while from Burnet the total is $39,699.90 for a difference of $3,173.19. The City of Burnet has experienced an increase Between the 1977 and 1976 payments of 28 per cent while the City of Marble Falls has increased by 36 per cent. Other cities in the area included in this release Are Bertram an increase Between 1977 and 1976 payments of almost $1,000 and an increase of 23 per cent to Date Llano increased yearly payments almost $2,000 with a 5 per cent increase experienced Lampasas increased Over $6,000 Between yearly payments to Date and also experienced a 9 per cent increase. Comptroller Bob Bullock said his office had mailed checks totalling $39.3 million to 865 Texas cities for their june share of the one per cent City sates tax. The latest checks bring to $167.1 million the amount rebated to cities to Date this year a 15.1 per cent increase Over the same period last year. The City of Houston received the fattest Check-$7.5 million while Dallas and fort Worth received $4.8 million and $1.8 million respectively. Total expected revenues Are $1,451,000.00 to cover proposed expenditures of $1,439,795. The proposed budget represents an increase of 22 per cent Over last year s budget. Yet to be considered is the proposed budget for the utilization of Revenue sharing funds to be received from the Federal government.
