Burnet High School 1930s graduates invited to June 14 open house

Burnet High School alumni from 1930 to 1940 receive an open house invitation for June 14 from 1 to 5 PM at the LCRA Administration Building Buchanon Dam. Teachers who taught in the 1930s are also invited. Event chairmen are Mr. and Mrs. Ed Young and Mrs. Ruth Kelley of Burnet. A 1935 class reunion follows.

Burnet to Receive $60,000 Federal Grant for Infrastructure

Mayor O L Kassaw announced a $60,000 federal grant for Burnet to be matched by the Burnet Industrial Foundation. Funds will finance streets water lines sewer mains and a lift station at the Industrial Complex near Highway 281. A non discriminatory usage pledge via city resolution is required.

Burnet City Council Eyes Lower Utility Costs and Rate Hike

The Burnet city council met June 10 to review a Lower Colorado River Authority contract, water rate increases, and subdivision issues. The panel approved higher water rates and taps to meet bond requirements, tabled highway speed changes, and allocated 15,000 RSF for recreational projects plus 31,849 RSF for fiscal 1975 76.

Burnet County Commissioners Review June Session

Burnet County Commissioners Court met June 9 to review monthly bills mainly for road work. Reports covered the Mental Health Clinic progress, to date 16 patients in one month and 27 transfers from Lampasas, plus plans for open houses and referrals system. Home Demonstration Clubs reported 218 members in 11 clubs and a busy calendar including the August 12 fair, with clubs supporting libraries and community centers. The court discussed accepting a private lane, road repairs on ranch land, a Meadowlakes subdivision plat with street dedication notes, and authorized bids for several items to be opened June 23.
