Accident on the St Johnsbury and Lake Champlain Railroad
An through freight from Swan ton to St. Johnsbury ran into a washout three and a half miles east of Sheldon. The engine and several cars passed safely but the crust of frozen ground under heavy loaded cars gave way. One car of corn spilled, four trucks dumped, and the caboose remained on track. No injuries except Bert Smith with a crushed collarbone.
