Greenbushes Health Board Plans for Possible Influenza Outbreak
A Greenbushes Health Board meeting on Friday April 26 discussed preparations for a possible influenza outbreak. Rev F Reidy offered Presbytery as a private hospital, with hotel expenses payable by the board. The board requested six beds, two tents, and volunteers from the R.S.A. for patrols. May to drive patients was approved for pay, and a conference with the hospital committee was set for Tuesday 24 at 3 am with Dr Hume to attend if possible.

The Balingup Repatriation Committee met Friday the 26th with Lukis Rose Hanter Phillips Wright and Wansbrough present. Rose elected chairman after Lea Allnutt resigned and W M Jenkins chosen for the vacancy. Committee discussed bee farming for Mr Firth and approved it, set a value for D Walker’s freehold, and approved Holdsworth’s assistance for Hester property. Reports noted inspections, subs, and transport costs. next meeting set for July 2 at 8 pm.

Reunion of Picton ex-scholars honors Les Brooks
About fifty former Picton School students gathered Saturday afternoon to welcome home Les Brooks of HMAS Parramatta. The social included open air games and violin selections by Eileen Rooney and Carl Meyers. Brooks spoke on Parramatta’s wartime two years, and the head teacher presented a silver mounted leather wallet as a keepsake before afternoon tea.
