Election Day 2013 Polls Open for Local Races
Voters head to the polls on Tuesday November 5 to decide several local offices. In Buffalo Center incumbents Pete Paulson and Charles Sil ber face challenger Les Wabben for two City Council seats while Mayor Troy Armstrong runs unopposed. In Lakota write in votes may decide at least two council seats. Debra Steven is listed on the ballot. In Rake three City Council seats are on the ballot with incumbents Melissa Dave and Phil Benn and former councilman among the contenders.

Community Christian Youth Trick-or-Treat for Canned Goods
Buffalo Center churches unite for Trick-or-Treat for Canned Goods to aid North Iowa Food for Families. Youth collect nonperishable items and household goods, distribute paper bags, and pick up bags on Saturday Nov 2 from 10 am to noon. Bags should be placed outside by dawn. The food pantry, now in a larger Buffalo Plaza facility at Main Street, serves more people with broader items and is open Mondays 2 to 5 pm.
