Fall Off Scaffold Breaks Heel In Lakota Home Build
Nelmer Matson, Ben Gerdes, and Kelly Rippentrop fell from a scaffold Thursday afternoon while working on the Mittag home in Lakota. Matson broke his heel and is at Park Hospital Mason City in room 229. Rippentrop injured his back and cannot work for a time, while Gerdes was only shaken up. The trio, employed by Hanson Bros. of Buffalo Center, are building a new Lakota residence.

Rural Youth to Des Moines Meeting

War Bride Behrends Leaves Mason City for England Visit
Mrs. Fred L. Behrends and her two children Rod ney Lewis and Janet Eileen left Mason City for New York City aboard a trip to England aboard the Queen Elizabeth set for November 23. They will visit her parents in Hanworth England and six sisters and three brothers for a winter stay returning in February. Tractor Fire Quenched At Nelson Farm Near Town
Firefighters answered a noon call to Oscar Nelson’s farm south east of town to tackle a burning tractor. Adolph Hartman’s son was at the farm when Foster was fueling the J D tractor, causing a blaze that was pushed away from the crib to avert worse damage. Neighbors and the fire crew quickly put out the flames with no further harm.
