Robber Sentenced in St Benedict Bank Trio Case

A man from St Benedict Iowa was sentenced for involvement in a string of bank robberies in Kossuth and surrounding counties. He confessed to crimes at Luverne Itly Meriden and other towns, and was sentenced after pleading guilty. Other suspects, including Dagen and William Os, were previously captured and jailed. more arrests were anticipated as authorities press the case in a wave of recent robberies across Titonka Burt Fenton Wesley and nearby banks.

Woman's Community Club Plans Exchanges and Halloween Event

North Khos guth golf club received a state check for R750 last week to cover damages to the course from the relocation of road No 9. Three greens and fairways were destroyed by the highway move. The club plans to lease additional ground on the south side and build three new greens next year.

Funeral services for Charle Thaves a longtime Lakota resident who died Monday night after a stroke will be held this Thursday afternoon at Lakota. He ran a grocery and meat market and was highly respected. He leaves a widow two daughters four brothers and three sisters and is twice removed as cousin to Mrs. O. R. Kramer of this city.

Light vote cast at election Tuesday in Buffalo township

Only 285 votes were cast in Buffalo township due to fair weather and farmers in corn fields. In Winnebago County the bond issue for No. 9 carried about two to one, 1678 yes to 841 no, and I. J. Dickinson defeated Daniel Steck for United States Senator with 1872 votes to 588 for Steck. All Republican candidates were elected including Shuttle for Auditor Odden for Treasurer Lyng for Clerk Swenson for Sheriff Brown for Recorder Boynton for County Attorney Thompson for Coroner. M. McDermott was elected justice of the peace, Fred Stratman constable, Lester Drake and E. Smith trustees, John Feldick Clerk, H. H. F. Pomeroy assessor of Buffalo township.

The Grand Parade, a Pathe picture about minstrel life and an elaborate minstrel show, will be shown at the New Iowa theatre on Armistice Day. Father Daughter Banquet by Buffalo 4 H Club Girls

The Buffalo 4 H Club Girls entertained their fathers at a banquet on Wednesday October 29 at the Clark Meechem home. The rooms were decorated in orange and black with four at each table. Guests included Rev Haws and Mr and Mrs Jack Liveran president of the Buffalo township Farm Bureau and Mr and Mrs Harm Shortenhans with Mrs Shortenhans as assistant leader. A two house dinner was served by club mothers. The program featured talks on how the Buffalo 42 Girls help the Farm Bureau by Mrs Jack Liveran and What the 42 Club Means by Ada Berryhill plus ghost stories and games for entertainment.

New Star Route To Be Established In Iowa

A new star mail route will link Garner to Lakota with two mails each weekday, expanding service to towns along Rock Island railroad. Judge Clark to preside in Forest City county court

Forged Checks Reported At Kos County Bank

Ten forged checks were detected drawn on Kos County State Bank over recent weeks. Four for five dollars each were cashed at Fort Dodge establishments using Edward Fleming’s name and Ruth Fleming’s endorsement. Six ten dollar checks were cleared in Slows City signed by Henry Meyers and endorsed by Bertha Meyers. All handwriting matched, but no accounts exist for either party. Police seek the alleged female suspect.
