Jepsen told newsmen he would have dismissed Howell within a week if he had been governor. The merit system is under fire since its start two years ago for not recognizing longevity pay. 4-H Demonstration Session Promotes Proper Training

Winnebago County 4-H members leaders and parents attended a training session led by Keith Kimberlin Extension 4-H and Youth Leader for Hancock and Winnebago counties. Attendees include Mrs. Dean Anderson Linien Lassies, Mrs. Kenneth Bruns Eden Farmer ettes, Mrs. Neal Johnson Log anettes, Mrs. Marvin Wessels Buffalo Boosters, Mrs. Robert Thompson Norway Nightengales, Mrs. Alfred Kloppen Norway Nightengales. The program aims to aid personal development recognition teaching others and highlight 4-H work. Miss Elizabeth Clement will assist Hancock Extension this summer with the demonstration program. Senior demonstrations will be July 18 to qualify for State fair entry and all demos will be part of the Junior Show.

Public sale settles Femrite home to Gerzema for 6975 dollars

Tribune notes from May 28 1958 recount the Femrite home sale at public auction last Tuesday yielding Carlyle Gerzema a 6975 dollar bid. It also notes Buffalo Center’s first step toward a 40000 dollar post office building with an option on five lots at City Park and a planned Ben Franklin store on Main Street run by George Beaving.
