Buff alo inter girl to take art in May Fete at Iowa State College. Freshman home economics student Wiliel will participate. The May fete runs May 8 9 and 10 with a large cast. Students plan demonstrations medicine science and military circus. Visitors expected from campus and beyond.
Last Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs Jasper Dirksen a large family celebration honored Heere Winter father of Mrs Dirksen on his 79th birthday. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Jasper Dirksen Mr and Mrs John Winter Mr and Mrs Bam Winter and others. A group photo was taken and a large birthday cake served later in the afternoon.
Buffalo Center residents face a modest rate cut from Interstate Power Company effective May 1 1930. Residence lighting drops for new brackets while minimums rise slightly and some customers may see little benefit. Company aims to align with national rate reductions, but locals warn the change favors few and call for continued pressure for fair charges and improved service.
Deputy State Fire Marshal Fred W. Scharfenberg and Deputy Sheriff J. J. Swenson investigated a fire on April 4 in Pilor keich State park. The blaze burned about 60 acres, endangered the area, and took hours to bring under control with help from Forest City fire, the American Legion, and the Boy Scouts. They warned park visitors that lighting cigars or cigarettes or starting fires in the park is a serious offense.
The Ladies Community Club met at City Hall Tuesday with about 25 women. The Library board chair reported new books arriving and more on the way, with fifty traveling library books arriving. Mrs Sapp offered to host the Lake Bills Art Club at her home on Saturday May 8 at 2 pm. In a quiet life change brought by bereavement Mrs Harm Harms age, a young mother, is mourned by husband and children. Mr and Mrs Wilkie Harris, longtime retirees, leave their farm for a new home in South Buffalo. Pete Wessels Jr moves his family into the Harms residence in Buffalo Center this week, reflecting the close knit town adapting to aging residents and shifting family needs.
The Ladies Literary Circle met April 20 at Mrs John Daums home to discuss plans for annual guest day and entertainment of husbands on May 20. Mrs Koppen Mrs Cuyer and Mrs Harkness led the afternoon program with a Bath visit by Mrs Guyer and a review of the Coming of King Arthur ending the year in England. The group adjourned to meet May 13 at Mrs Peases home.
Dan W Turner, candidate for governor, declares he will align with farmers and homeowners on tax equalization. He opposes subterfuge and would lose on a right program rather than win on an unfair platform. Turner favors a replacement tax to ease the burden on farms, homes, and business properties, unlike his rivals who back the current system.

Buffalo Center baseball team plans a practice game with Bancroft on Sunday May 4 at Bancroft diamond starting 2 30. The local squad aims to refine lineup ahead of North Iowa League opener at home versus Elmore next week, with several new faces added to the roster.
