May Fete at Iowa State College Big Student Show

Buff alo inter girl to take art in May Fete at Iowa State College. Freshman home economics student Wiliel will participate. The May fete runs May 8 9 and 10 with a large cast. Students plan demonstrations medicine science and military circus. Visitors expected from campus and beyond.

Birthday gathering marks Heere Winter reaching 79

Last Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs Jasper Dirksen a large family celebration honored Heere Winter father of Mrs Dirksen on his 79th birthday. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Jasper Dirksen Mr and Mrs John Winter Mr and Mrs Bam Winter and others. A group photo was taken and a large birthday cake served later in the afternoon.

Reduction in Electric Light Rates Now in Effect

Tilot Knob Blaze Threatened Surrounding Country

Deputy State Fire Marshal Fred W. Scharfenberg and Deputy Sheriff J. J. Swenson investigated a fire on April 4 in Pilor keich State park. The blaze burned about 60 acres, endangered the area, and took hours to bring under control with help from Forest City fire, the American Legion, and the Boy Scouts. They warned park visitors that lighting cigars or cigarettes or starting fires in the park is a serious offense.

Community Club Met Tuesday Evening at City Hall

The Ladies Community Club met at City Hall Tuesday with about 25 women. The Library board chair reported new books arriving and more on the way, with fifty traveling library books arriving. Mrs Sapp offered to host the Lake Bills Art Club at her home on Saturday May 8 at 2 pm. Meg Peterson and others served a luncheon and games followed, with Mr Galagan high score and Mrs Elman consolation prize.

Goldthwaite to Address Des Moines Press Meet and Local Club

The weekly Goldthwaite headquarters newsletter notes 8 G. Goldthwaite of Boone, a candidate for Congress in Iowa’s tenth district, will attend the Des Moines session of the Iowa Press Association as a past president.
