Grain Under Loan Needs Attention

Winnebag County farmers with price support loans on farm stored grain soybeans or flaxseed were told by Archie E. Anderson ASC chairman that borrowers are responsible for both quantity and quality. A nonrecourse loan covers only if the stored grain remains equal or better in amount and quality. otherwise settlement is based on current quality and any deficiency must be paid by the farmer. Farmers should inspect stored grain regularly and act quickly to correct problems, especially as warmer weather arrives, and contact the county ASC or Extension Service for advice.
