National Safety council figures show 4,400 fatal farm work accidents in 1946, with one third from motor vehicles and machinery. Home, automobile, and fire losses reach millions, spurring President Truman to urge nationwide effort to curb unsafe practices on farms and in homes.
Twelve Winnebago County youths joined the district Rural Youth Camp at Templar Park on Spirit Lake over the weekend. The event opened with 4 p.m. Friday registration and closed Sunday at 4 p.m. The program featured sports swimming highway safety discussions an evening party and a campfire. Attendees included Bob Hageman Althea Hagerman Norma Jean Hillesland Vincent Otis Jean Trumbell Veromom Hogard LeRoy Berryhill Roy Bilyeu Woden Orvis Anderson Joan Anderson Kenneth Mark Vernon Wold and county extension director Norbert Doreen accompanied the group.
The Lincoln Clippers 4 H club met at Paul Vaagen's home with Vaagen leading on corn and grain varieties. They planned a club tour and set the next meeting for July 8 at Archie Anderson's home with refreshments served by Mrs Vaagen.
