Truck Crash Near Here Ends With Egg Loss
A large truck loaded with 150 cases of eggs ran off No. 9 to avoid a head-on collision in a traffic jam, wrecking the vehicle and breaking nearly all the eggs. The driver had only minor bruises. Local farmers are warned to watch for livestock bloating on clover rich pastures. Iowa State College expert Dwight Espe notes bloat is caused by animals eating clover too fast, not by clover itself. Prevention includes dry lot grazing before dew, time off pasture after rain, and feeding dry hay or grain. if bloating occurs, keep stock moving and call a veterinarian. Drinking cold water and pouring cool water over the animal’s side may slow the digestive process.
