Winnebago Relay for Life Set for Saturday in Forest City
The Winnebago County Relay for Life unfolds Saturday June 29 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Courthouse Square Forest City with 21 north Iowa teams, a daylong entertainment slate led by Rich and Tina Mack, performances by Faith Finer Alyssa Buffington Hannah Goebel Sandy Page Gilbert Goldsmith and the Johnsons and others, plus volleyball games a classic car show a tumble show a free Zumba class haircuts for a donation a luminaria ceremony and 10 p.m. fireworks. Food crafts t shirts cookbooks kettle corn and more will be sold throughout the day. Public attendance is encouraged with more info on Relay for Life of Winnebago County Facebook or Relayforlife.org.

NTSB releases report on fatal plane crash near Britt
The NTSB concluded its investigation into the July 17 2012 crash that killed John Larson 38 in Buffalo Center. The pilot failed to maintain clearance from power lines during an agricultural spray and was distracted by a personal cell phone. A witness reported engine sputter and a ball of fire as lines were severed and debris found near the damaged pole. The report notes no pre impact airplane failures and issues a safety alert about avoiding PED use during flight.
