Obituary of A T Cole Pioneer Blacksmith Civil War Vet
A. T. Cole died at his Forest City home Sunday afternoon at 4:85 aged 70. Born December 31 1888 in Franklin County Ohio he married Phoebe J Carrington August 8 1853 in Cordon Indiana. A pioneer settler came with family in March 1956 and helped shape early county history. A Civil War veteran served in Co B 8 Iowa infantry An honorable discharge followed. He fought at Pleasant Hill noted for Fort Dennison capture and was wounded and captured in Texas camps before final muster out. He marched with Sherman from Vicksburg to Meridian in 1864.
