Medical Assistance for Aged Concludes Study

The study by the state department of social welfare shows 46.3 percent of women and 37.6 percent of men approved for MAA had health insurance, but only about one fifth used it to pay medical bills. Insurance coverage rose with age, yet often did not cover expenses. Details include reliance on public assistance for some men aged 6 to 69 and that women paid most bills themselves or via others. The research notes potential continued insurance use by MAA recipients and varying contributions from children with age. It also covers related relief programs and eligibility nuances for MAA payouts.
