College Student Abducted Prank Ends in Pilot Knob Park
Early Friday a Forest City sheriff took Virgil Chamberlain, a State College Ames student, home after being found in underwear and blindfolded in Pilot Knob Park. The incident, blamed on a fraternity prank, involved a 2 a.m. relocation and a later return home with fellow students aiding. Nearby traffic crash notes no injuries. Construction on Main Street began with the C. B. Olson crew pouring a footing for a 22 by 36 brick and block structure beside the Costigan Motor Company. Ray Conner plans to move his barbershop and beauty parlor into the new location once finished. Mission Festival Planned By Reformed Church

First Band Concert of the Season in City Park Saturday
The summer season band concerts begin Saturday June 7 in City Park replacing the band stand on Main Street to give listeners a better view and allow full band participation. Russell Kingsbury, 36, operator for Lenny Harmon, buried alive when a ditch cavern collapsed two miles south of Bancroft after finishing a 12 foot hole for a county tile. American Legion Junior Baseball Practice To Begin Tonight
The first practice for the American Legion Junior baseball team is set for tonight at 6 o clock. Seventeen-year-old cutoff for eligibility is January 1, 1947, with 18 boys already signed up. The season opener will be held at Forest City next Sunday, June 8, at 2 30 in the afternoon.
