Memorial Day Observed with Ceremony in Buffalo Center

Memorial Day in Buffalo Center featured a city program beginning at 1:80 p.m with music by local groups. Leonard Mitterer officiated the cannon dedication in the park as the crowd gathered. A color guard and ski squad led a sequence of selections and tributes in front of the monument.

Car Hits Horses On Pavement Near Leland

A Chevrolet driven by Clyde Steinberg struck two horses near Leland, injuring LaVen Kuchenreuther and killing one horse owned by Sam Carlson. Adrian Hansing, Louis Glorfeld, and others escaped unharmed, car damage noted, Carlson paid cash settlement to Mrs Steinberg.

Lightest primary vote in history at Buffalo township

Buffalo township held a record low primary vote with 200 votes, 121 Republican, 78 Democratic and 1 Farm Laborer. In Winnebago county 8270 total votes were cast with 2711 Republican, 528 Democratic and 89 Farm Laborer. Dickinson won the Republican nomination for U S Senator, facing Clyde L. Herring. Odden won the Republican nomination for State Representative by 16 votes. Leo Elthon defeated M A Answaard for State Senator and will face Wray Wrestly. Fred Gilchrist, the Republican nominee for U S Representative, will oppose Ray Murray. Complete county tallies list several named candidates.

Frerichs Jurgens Wedding Told By Local Press

Miss Stella L Jurgens became the bride of Mr John N Frerichs at the Reformed church parsonage Monday evening June 1. The Rev Wm Overty officiated with Miss Charlotte Frerichs as bridesmaid and William Jurgens as best man. A reception followed at the bride’s mother's home. The couple will live on the N Frerichs farm southeast of here after a wedding trip to Denver and Colorado Springs. The bride is a Batlfute Center high school graduate of 1920 and has long been identified in the community.

Farm Bureau and Cow Test Association Meet

The Winnebago County Farm Bureau and Cow Test Association announce their annual meeting set for Friday June 12 at Thompson City Park. The dairy cattle judging contest runs in the forenoon led by Arthur Porter of the Recension Service. A speaker is being sought for the afternoon program, with a picnic dinner at noon and free coffee. An hour and a half of sports will follow the platform program.
