Hospital News Briefs Include Several Major Procedures

J. D. Breen of Titanica underwent a major operation and was ston Monday for treatment, with dismissal expected Tuesday after recovery. Johnson of Northwood faced a minor operation and was dismissed Monday. Iloy Feldick also underwent a major operation and was discharged Saturday, indicating varying postoperative progress.

Sheriff Finds Gun Man Asleep In Car

Winnebago Republican reports Sheriff Johnston found a man asleep in a 1929 Chevrolet with two loaded guns, a revolver and a .25 Colt, during a patrol near Lake City Iowa. The suspect, Glide L. Shillito, showed a criminal record and was jailed on a concealed weapons charge. Evidence included a watch, ring, and tools, with stolen items linked to Dubuque, Marshalltown, and Orange City.

Poppies Sales Leader Geraldine Schoon Sets Record

Geraldine Schoon, junior member of the local Auxiliary Unit, has sold more Poppies than any other member for the past two years. This year she sold 69 Poppies celebrating her dedication to supporting disabled veterans.

Holstein Show Set For June 12 At Mason City Air Grounds

Holstein Show scheduled for June 12 in the Mason City district will be held at the air grounds. Plans were set at a recent breeders meeting with Willard Latham as district chairman and several county agents assisting. The one day event runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. cattle arrive in the morning and depart late afternoon. A judging contest with divisions for men women and youths will accompany the show with prizes for high scoring judges. A noon picnic will accompany the event and a district herd will later qualify for the state show at Waterloo June 30 with $100 awarded to each district.

Fishing Trip Minutes Set for Lake Kabe togama

Move Bees 30 Miles To Pollinate Clover Crop

The Yoder brothers of Stratford and Garl A. Peterson of Gowrie plan to use honey bees to pollinate 60 acres of white sweet clover in Webster County. Delerson lay arranged 50 hives from the Seder brothers to the farm to ensure a good seed crop, with Peterson expressing intent to learn more about bees and perhaps start farming next year.

Memorial Day Observances Draw Large Crowd

Memorial Day exercises drew a large crowd with a Highchoor Band under Artis Branne. A parade from the city park to the schoolhouse led to the cemetery program with Rev William Everts delivering prayers and Ray Murray dedicating the cemetery memorial.
