A baby boy Lew Larson was born in Dennis hospital to Mr and Mrs Lew Larson of Kiron Son Claxton. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Elmer Holland. Wanda Holland was the former Mrs Larson. The community attends funerals, visits, picnics, and family gatherings across Forest City, Mason City, Emmons Minnesota, and Canada, with many relatives from Canada, Minnesota, Iowa and North Dakota sharing in events, meals, and travel.

Wheat Growers Reminded of Referendum in Kossuth County
Kossuth county growers are urged to vote Friday July 20 on marketing quotas for the 1957 wheat crop. Polling runs 8 AM to 7 PM at the Kossuth County ASC office in Algona. The referendum ties quota approval to a $2.00 per bushel support rate. a no quota result lowers 1957 support to 50 percent of parity about $1.21 per bushel.

Heiken Family Reunion at Betels Farm Home
The Heiken family reunion was held Sunday July 8 at the country farmhouse of Mr. and Mrs. William Betels. Sixty one relatives attended including the Vernon Van Hovels now in Minneapolis missionaries to South America. Guests traveled from Albert Lea, Huntley, Winnebago, Blue Earth, Wellsburg, Waterloo, Woden and Buffalo Center. Elizabeth and Marjorie Wabben left Saturday for Davenport for three weeks of employment, with John Jungling and family of Bristow and Ed Nelson's family from Rochester joining for Sunday dinner at George Hanson’s home.
