Mr and Mrs Cliff Thompson visited the Hackers in Lake Park while Mrs Hannah Rhoda of Blue Earth and several Minnesota couples travelled to Buffalo Center for a gathering with Dr and Mrs L P Miller. Guests at John A Winter's home included Jack Hampton Greg and Dianna Mason City. Dr L P Miller and Lewis Jensen visited Karl Wrooke in Wells. A shower for Marion Burt occurred at Ledyard. Roy Leibrand Elmer Leibrand and Melvin Leibrand attended C Milbrandts Golden Wedding in Blue Earth on Feb 23. Milbrandt is Roy Leibrand's brother.

Grant Gleaners Choose Clothing As Year’s Project

The Grant Gleaners 4-H Club plans a clothing year with four objectives learning garment selection grooming care and construction. Junior members sew simple items while intermed and senior members advance with better articles. Leaders include Mrs. Heyes Krull and Schmidt. Showers Honor Mrs. Ronnie James

A miscellaneous bridal shower for Mrs. Ronald James (Mary Smith) was held at the Buffalo Center Methodist Church on Friday February 15 with about 40 guests. The decorators were Joyce Oftedahl and Ilidi Klaasen. gift attendants included Sandy Smith and Becky James, with Betty Sapp and Patty assisting. A second shower occurred Friday February 22 at the Buffalo Center Congregational Church hosted by the bride's aunts Mrs. John Abels Mrs. Joe Abels and Mrs. Amel Limberg with a program led by Mrs. Limberg.

Legion Post Stag Realizes Profit

The American Legion's annual Stag party Fun Night held at City Hall last Friday drew about fifty members and guests. Attendees enjoyed games, hospitality, and a varied Smorgasbord. Door prizes included a box of chocolates, an all steel hammer, a Thermo-jug, and a party-pack. Wayne Kinkland won. The post reported a satisfactory profit. Monday evening guests at Mr. and Mrs. William Betels marked Linda's birthday, with several relatives in attendance.

Work Session Concludes Crops Shortcourse

After a 20 day program led by Iowa State University Extension Crops and Soils specialists county farmers organized a 240 acre Winnebago county farm for top value crop production. The course covered field layouts cropping systems fertilizer costs and conservation practices guided by county soils and plant growth data. On February 6 Joe Stritzel and Frank Schaller discussed soils and balanced fertilizer needs stressing soil testing in planning.

Crops Production Shortcourse wraps up in Winnebago County

The three day event trained growers on plant growth and crop economics with lectures by L Bodensteiner and topics covering corn production. Extension service officials led the final day focus on planning crop economics while participants worked on farm problems. Visitors included Dale Finer of Titonka, Della Anderson of Woden, Earl Cavett of Lake Mills, and Ronald Swanson’s birthday gathering at the Winters.
