A bold Red Oak jewelry store hold up ended with shots fired and the robbers slipping away. Revenue Collector Stackhouse refused to testify in a Mt. Ayr liquor case, citing federal limits on records seizures. Judge Wolfe freed Transpt in Cedar Rapids after a larceny case questioning trial value. At Atlantic, Yetzer’s confinement was deemed safe if jail is ventilated, after a court-ordered health examination.
The overdue French steamer La Gascogne arrived at quarantine Staten Island on February 1 after a 16 day voyage marked by a broken piston rod and repeated engine failures. The ship faced gales and a 41 hour halt off Sabre Island with no engine revolutions, finally signaling Fire Island before heading to Sandy Hook.

In Mexico City on February 16, the Guatemalan question is amicably settled on an equitable basis. The boundary will be definitively determined, Guatemala will accept a war indemnity and pay damages for Mexican property. Guatemala’s official acceptance is expected next week and will be published in the Diario Official. Both sides made concessions.
News reaches Hentexa that 2,500 sheep owned by Elena Men were exterminated in a sudden blizzard near Oka. Shepherd Eugene Watts died in the storm near a shed. others tried to aid, but the ferocity of the weather left no chance for rescue.
