Tim Holt to Meet Fans in Buffalo Center Saturday
Cowboy film star Tim Holt will be in Buffalo Center from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm Saturday February 9. He will sign autographs answer questions about movie making and dine at the Roy B Johnson Hatchery with boys girls and adults. Holt, born 1919 Hollywood nephew of Jack Holt, served in the U S Army earning the Distinguished Flying Cross and other medals. He has appeared in My Darling Clementine Thunder Mountain Wild Horse Mesa Treasure of the Sierra Madre with Bogart Huston among many others.

Two clean up meetings are planned this week to finish rural tax assessments. Today farmers from J Linden, King and Eden can apply at Thompson City Hall to complete their assessments. On Friday February 8 farmers from Grant, Buffalo and Lintoln townships may go to Mal City Hall in Buffalo Center for the same purpose.

Funeral for Anna Kahler at Bancroft St Johns Church
Funeral services were held Saturday morning at St John’s Catholic Church in Bancroft for Mrs Anna Kahler 83 mother of Glen Kahler. She suffered a stroke ten days earlier and died. She is survived by her husband and four sons and a daughter. Attending from the area were Glen Kahler and family Frank Eich and relatives two Kahler daughters with their husbands Harold Hutchinson and Daryl Hammond from Mason City and Ames respectively. They stayed over weekend.

Buffalo Center Man Retires After 33 Years In Army
Harry H. Perton first sergeant and pharmacist at the Kansas City Record Center’s U S Army Dispensary retires Jan 31 1957 after over 33 years service. Col Ward W. Conquest presided at a ceremony where his wife Mae attended. Perton will continue as a civil service employee. He survived the Bataan Death March and POW years in the Philippines with Mrs Perton. He first served 1918 to 1924 then rejoined until 1945 with a Shanghai stint. The Pendons live at 3307 Maywood Independence MO. they have two children Harold and Marie. He wears the Medical badge Philippine Presidential Unit Citation and Purple Heart.
