Lake Mills defeated Forest City 52 to 31 in Class A final, while Rake beat Lake Mills 47 to 35 for the Class B crown. Rites Held For Ord Curtis
Funeral services for Ord Curtis were held Wednesday afternoon January 29 at the home of his son Glen Curtis in Swea City and at the First Congregational Church with interment in Olena Mound cemetery. Curtis, born January 7, 1863 in South Cannon Pennsylvania, lived in Council Bluffs Hemmingford Nebraska Buffalo Center Iowa and finally Swea City. He died January 26 1947 at age 84 leaving a son Glen and wife, two brothers, and several nieces and nephews. five sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. A verse and a judge quote follow the obituary.

Niece of H. T. Huisman killed in Auto Train Crash
Dorothy Huisman a 21 year old of Wellsburg died in an early Sunday crash when the car she rode in was struck by a westbound Illinois Central train at Aplington. Four other occupants Howard Sessler Kenneth Sessler Richard Straham and Ernes tine Cuvelier also died. She was the niece of H. T. Huisman Rock Island section foreman. Funeral services are planned with family attendance expected.
