Forest City Indians Win Winnebago County Title

Forest City Indians claim the Winnebago county class A basketball crown with a 43 to 35 win over Lake Mills. They reached the finals by beating Buffalo Center 45 to 36, while Lake Mills had defeated Thompson 72 to 41. In Class B, Rake won the title 37 to 29 over Scarville after earlier rounds, with Lake Mills B and Scarville also advancing through the tournament.

Winnebago Legion Posts Meeting and Dad's Night Plans

The Winnebago American Legion Post No. 21 schedules its regular meeting tonight at eight in the Post Room to discuss plans for the annual Dad's Night party and invites all Legionnaires and eligible joiners to attend. Commander Boyd Jordal and Charles DeVries receive thanks for remodeling and repainting the Legion room, which is now in excellent condition. Legionnaire Cecil Kuchenreuther is recovering from an appendicitis operation at Dolmage hospital and hopes to be back soon.

Final Rites Held For Robert E. Theile

Funeral services for Robert E. Theile were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 at Schutter Sons with Rev. Gauger in charge. Interment was in Grace Land cemetery. Theile, born September 1 1878 in New Lisbon Wisconsin, lived in Arkdale Buffalo Center Sauk City and Mason City. He died January 28 1948 survived by his widow two daughters and a brother, with many relatives attending. He was a longtime postmaster and produce station operator and served as Buffalo Center city assessor for years.

Bertha Balvance laid to rest in Eldora and Buffalo Center

Funeral services were held for Bertha Balvance born December 5 1882 in Beversdorf Germany and died January 31 at 10 30 pm at her daughter’s home Lakota. She leaves six children fourteen grandchildren five Huehn brothers and a sister. Interment at Eldora Cemetery.
